Rogers Place to remain home of Oilers until 2036

Rogers will remain a major partner of the Edmonton Oilers.

On Tuesday, the two announced that Rogers Place will remain the Oilers’ home until 2036, confirming a 10-year commitment. That extension comes after 10 years of Rogers having the naming rights to the Oilers’ home.

Rogers has the naming rights to Rogers Arena in Vancouver and Rogers Centre, home of the Toronto Blue Jays. They are just beginning a 12-year contract with the NHL for the broadcasting rights in Canada, with Sportsnet being the home of Oilers hockey through 2037-38.

“For the past decade, Rogers has shared our commitment to supporting and connecting communities across Oil Country and creating exceptional experiences for Oilers fans—both at Rogers Place and through the Sportsnet broadcast,” said Hugh Weber, CEO, OEG Sports & Entertainment, in a press release.

“As we celebrate 10 years of Rogers Place and ICE District, this long-term extension is a testament to the strength of our partnership, and we’re excited about what we can create for Oilers fans over the next decade.”

They say they are going to give back to fans by awarding 1,500 tickets to customers this season, including 300 for the home opener against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday, Sept. 29. 

Through Rogers’ various partnerships and properties, there have been many changes since the end of the 2025-26 season, with the abrupt closure of their sports talk stations in Calgary and Vancouver, as well as price increases for Sportsnet’s streaming app. 

With on-air talent, Kelly Hrudey has been let go, but reports indicate that Elliotte Friedman and Kevin Bieksa were “free agents” on Sept. 1. Jonah Sigel of the Toronto Star says that rumours that Amazon was going to make a significant offer to sign Friedman for their Wednesday Night Hockey broadcasts were “complete fiction.” He continued by saying most deal terms between Friedman and Rogers are done. There’s been less info on Bieksa’s negotiations.
