Scribe Floats Bruins Target Brady Tkachuk in Offseason Trade

Nothing is official, but one reporter believes the Boston Bruins will be among the teams potentially interested in a trade to acquire Brady Tkachuk from the Ottawa Senators. Tkachuk has said he’s committed to the Sens, and he’s disappointed and frustrated with the constant narrative he’s looking to leave, but trade speculation continues.

Fluto Shinzawa of The Athletic is among those scribes who seem to keep pushing the idea that Tkachuk isn’t destined to stay put.

In a recent column, he writes:

“The Ottawa Senators’ left wing is signed for two more seasons. But given Ottawa’s first-round exit and Tkachuk’s zero-point postseason output, the Senators may be concerned about whether he wants to stay upon the conclusion of his contract.”

Noting that several teams would be open to the idea of acquiring Tkachuk, Shinzawa believes the Bruins would make a push if the forward became available.

He added:

“There would be a line at the U.S.-Canada border of parties interested in acquiring the power forward. Whether the Bruins would have enough assets to catch Ottawa’s eye is unknown. But the 26-year-old can impact games with his physicality, high-danger presence and spirit like few others can.”

Who Would Go Back to the Senators?

As for who the Bruins would trade, Shinzawa also mentioned Mason Lohrei and Joonas Korpisalo as players the organization might look to move. He writes of Lohrei, “the left-shot defenseman did not fit Sturm’s defensive system in 2025-26. He finished the playoffs as a healthy scratch. Because of his inconsistent play in the defensive zone, Lohrei did not reach his offensive ceiling.” In respect to Korpisalo, he said the goaltender was a solid No. 2, but noted, “the Bruins have a younger and less expensive backup option in Michael DiPietro, who’s won AHL goalie of the year honors the past two seasons.”

Those two won’t get it done, but they are pieces the Bruins could dangle.
