The San Jose Sharks announced Wednesday morning that they have recalled center Filip Bystedt from the AHL’s San Jose Barracuda.
Bystedt, 22, has four goals and eight points through eight games with the Barracuda to start the 2026-27 AHL regular season. The Sharks originally selected the six-foot-three, left-shot center in the first round (No. 27 overall) of the 2022 NHL Draft.
The Sharks also recalled defenseman Libor Hajek on Wednesday while placing forwards Igor Chernyshov and Alex Wennberg on injured reserve. Additionally, the club assigned defenseman Luca Cagnoni to the Barracuda.

F Igor Chernyshov and F Alexander Wennberg have been placed on injured reserve.
D Luca Cagnoni has been re-assigned to the Barracuda.
The Sharks have lost three consecutive games and finally chose to recall Bystedt the day after they fell 2-0 to the Buffalo Sabres on home ice. Through 13 games this season, the Sharks sit just outside the Western Conference playoff picture with a 6-6-1 record and 13 points.
After being drafted by the Sharks in 2022, Bystedt spent the subsequent two seasons with his hometown Swedish Hockey League club Linköping HC. He scored 15 goals and 37 points in 92 games over his two full campaigns with Linköping before arriving in North America in 2024.
Beyond his club play, Bystedt also represented his native Sweden internationally at the 2023 and 2024 IIHF World Junior Championships, collecting seven goals and 14 points in 14 games across the two tournaments.
Bystedt has spent parts of the past four seasons with the Barracuda and could make his NHL debut with the Sharks as soon as Thursday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks. He scored 22 goals and 60 points in 65 games with the Barracuda in 2025-26 and was named to the 2026 AHL All-Star Game.
With Bystedt recalled, the Sharks now have first-round picks from their past five draft clases on their active roster: Ivar Stenberg (2026), Michael Misa (2025), Macklin Celebrini and Sam Dickinson (2024), Will Smith (2023), and Bystedt (2022). All of them could be in the lineup on Thursday when the Sharks play host to the Canucks at 7:00 p.m. Pacific.
