Stars bring back Ben Gleason on PTO

Gleason’s last and only time in the NHL came in the 2018-19 season, when he had no goals and an assist in four games for Dallas.

Last season, Gleason played 59 games for the Minnesota Wild‘s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate Iowa Wild, in which he had two goals and 20 assists for 22 points.

After a four-year junior career in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), in which he helped lead the Hamilton Bulldogs to the J. Ross Robertson Cup as OHL champions in his final season, Gleason began his professional career by signing a three-year, entry-level deal as an undrafted free agent with the Stars ahead of the 2018-19 season. With the exception of the aforementioned four NHL games, Gleason played that season with Dallas’ AHL affiliate Texas Stars, where he put up five goals and 32 assists for 37 points in 72 games.

The Ortonville, Michigan native spent the next four seasons playing for Texas, including a career-best campaign in 2021-22 in which he tallied nine goals and 35 assists for 44 points in 70 games.

In July of 2023, Gleason signed a two-year, $1.55 million deal with the Edmonton Oilers as an unrestricted free agent. He never cracked Edmonton’s roster, however, and spent the duration of his time in the Oilers’ organization playing for the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors.

In November of the 2024-25 season, Gleason was dealt to the Philadelphia Flyers‘ organization in exchange for defenseman Ronnie Attard. He then signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Wild in July of 2025.

The 28-year-old, left-shot defenseman stands at 6’1″ and is known for being a solid puck mover with good hockey IQ.
