TJ Oshie has been dealing with plenty of injuries in recent years, and now, speculation over his future has emerged following the reveal of a major announcement.
Back in 2005, the St. Louis Blues used a first-round pick on forward TJ Oshie, and from that moment, he would go on to become a major star in the NHL for both the Blues and the Washington Capitals.
In 2018, that all culminated in a Stanley Cup win, the first in franchise history and the first for Oshie personally, and given his success on the international stage, he became one of the best wingers in the entire NHL.
Unfortunately for Oshie, he has played in just 52 games over the past two seasons, missing the entire 2024/25 campaign due to injury, and at 38-years of age, many have expected his career to come to an end soon.
Now, we may have some answers, as ESPN's Greg Wyshynski has revealed that Oshie will make an announcement this coming Monday at Washington Harbour in Georgetown.
Wyshynski notes that this is exactly 7 years to the day when Oshie and the Capitals celebrated their Stanley Cup win by swimming in fountains together, and unfortunately, it appears as though this may be the end of his stellar career.
In 1,010 NHL games played over his career, Oshie tallied a very impressive 302 goals and 695 points, becoming a very key player for two franchises over his stellar career.
Unfortunately though, the injuries have simply caught up with him, and while nothing is confirmed, this appears to be the end of his career, although it's not the last we'll likely see of him, as he has a massive future ahead in hockey whether that's coaching, in a front office or in a different role.
