The Top Prospect at Each Position

Looking over the LA Kings’ prospect list, there is an interesting conversation to have about quantity versus quality when it comes to high-end skill. Prospects like Kenny Connors, Jared Wright, Angus Booth, and Jared Woolley may not have the offensive output, skill, or highlight-reel plays, but they are solid players and good prospects in their own right.

Earlier this week, I shared a guide on where the Kings’ prospects will play this season. Today, I’ll share the top prospect at each position (forward, defense, and goaltending) for the Kings, based on my ranking.

So, who takes the top spot at each position? Let’s take a look!

Forward: Elton Hermansson (18 years old)

Elton Hermansson has something the Kings lack in their forward pipeline: skill. The Kings’ pipeline is clearly made up of mostly two-way middle-six forwards, but Hermansson is the one blue-chip forward prospect with the potential to be a top-six scoring forward with upside. He already put pen to paper on his entry-level contract and has four points in three games with MoDo (Sweden) as of this writing. He sent the internet into a frenzy the other day with a silky, smooth shootout goal in MoDo’s 3-2 shootout victory.
