The Toronto Maple Leafs have officially been sold in a record-breaking sale.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the most valuable teams in the NHL and on Wednesday that valuation increased exponentially. News broke early Wednesday morning that the Maple Leafs have officially been sold as part of a historic transaction. The deal sees Bell sell their entire interest to Rogers.

The deal was shared on X by Scott Soshnick of Sportico who shared the following details:

BREAKING: Rogers Reaches Deal to Buy Bell's 37.5% Stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment for $4.7B Canadian (~3.5B USD), giving it 75% of the Maple Leafs/Raptors parent company.

This deal comes as a major shock as there had been no word that the team was on the market. Rumors have persisted that Bell would one-day have interest in adding their own team in the GTA. Selling the Maple Leafs would allow them to potentially do this as the NHL is rumored to be considering major expansion in the coming years.

Chris Johnston of TSN confirmed the news.
