Manon Rheaume is an icon in the world of hockey, and now her son appears to be blazing his own path, impressing many as he continues to pursue his NHL dreams.
Fans of the National Hockey League in the 1990's will always be familiar with the name Manon Rheaume, the first female to play in an exhibition game at the NHL level.
She did so with the Tampa Bay Lightning, playing several pre-season games with the team, and while the league never saw its first female goalie in the regular season, she'll always be seen as a trail blazer and an icon in the hockey world.
Now, her son appears to be pushing for a spot in the NHL as well, as a report from RawCharge has revealed that he continues to impress at summer showcases, with the talented defenseman becoming an intriguing prospect.
While it's unlikely he'll make it onto a team this season, he has another year of eligibility left at the University of Michigan, and if he can continue to improve upon his play, he'll no doubt be a very intriguing college free agent at the end of the 2026 campaign.
What can't be doubted is Dakoda's drive and his fundamentals, as draft analysts praised him for his skating and his hockey IQ ahead of the 2025 NHL Draft, but as of right now, he'll need to go the college free agent route to find a role in the league.
With 9 points in 35 games on the blue line for Michigan a season ago, the talent is clearly there, so for now, we'll have to wait and see how he performs in 2025/26 before looking at his future, but it's clear that with the talent and lineage, he could be an NHLer of the future.
