Tyler Johnson has had a long and successful NHL career, but just weeks away from his 35th birthday, the former un-drafted forward has called it quits as a two-time Stanley Cup Champion.
While originally un-drafted coming into the NHL, Tyler Johnson carved out a fantastic role for himself in the NHL, spending the first nine seasons of his career with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Spokane, Washington native would find immense success during that time, particularly in his final two seasons with the team, playing in 48 post-season games with the team in that time en route to helping the franchise to back-to-back Stanley Cup victories.
Now, the 35-year old is reportedly set to hang up his skates after a stellar NHL career, and while he didn't go out on the highest note, he's clearly happy with the production and the success he managed to have at the NHL level.
In his career between Tampa Bay, Chicago and Boston, Johnson appeared in 747 regular season games, compiling 193 goals and 433 points in that span, while also playing a solid 116 Stanley Cup Playoff games for 65 total points.
Still, the defining time in his career will be the success in Tampa Bay when he hoisted the Stanley Cup not once, but twice, tallying 8 goals and 14 points in those two playoff runs for the Lightning.
His time in Chicago and Boston was less memorable, but Johnson has always been a well regarded player throughout his NHL career, and now, we can't wait to see what he decides to do in retirement, with jobs in coaching, scouting or even the front office all making sense for the veteran forward.
