The New York Rangers received some very unfortunate news Tuesday morning as they hit the ice for their morning skate, as several reports have confirmed Chris Kreider's status just went from bad to worse.
Back on Sunday afternoon, the New York Rangers confirmed that the 33-year-old veteran Chris Kreider's would not join the team as they faced off against the Chicago Blackhawks due to suffering an upper-body injury and was listed day-to-day.
News like this is never a good thing, as the Rangers desperately need all the help they can get, so losing a veteran player is never ideal.
Unfortunately, it seems like his situation may have gotten worse as the Rangers just placed the veteran on Injured Reserve (IR), retroactive to Sunday.
Along with that, there have been discussions about who will take Chris Kreider's spot in the lineup until he returns. That player being 23-year-old enforcer Matt Rempe, once he returns from his suspension.
Rempe currently still has one more game to serve on his suspension, so he won't be able to play Tuesday night against the Dallas Stars, but he will be eligible to play the New Jersey Devils on Thursday.
However, nothing has been confirmed as to who will take Kreider's spot in the lineup Tuesday. It could possibly be Jonny Brodzinski, or the newly acquired forward Arthur Kaliyev.
The Rangers are set to face off against the Dallas Stars Tuesday night on home ice at Madison Square Garden.
