Vancouver Canucks Called Out by Former Goalie Over Arturs Silovs Trade

The Vancouver Canucks goaltending room is rather strong, but according to former Canuck Richard Brodeur, it was a mistake to trade young Arturs Silovs.

This off-season has been a rather busy one for the Vancouver Canucks, with the team bringing back Brock Boeser and adding Evander Kane to their forward group, but they've also made some subtractions too.

The most intriguing of all was decision to trade young goaltender Arturs Silovs , with the 24-year old Calder Cup Playoffs MVP not having a clear path to the NHL behind Thatcher Demko or Kevin Lankinen after the team committed to both long-term.

Richard Brodeur calls out the Canucks for trading Silovs

The return was very minor for the Canucks, but with Silovs not set to play anytime soon, the team wanted to move him, and now former long-time Canucks goaltender Richard Brodeur has questioned that move.

That kid is ready, and he's going to have a good career, so I don't know why they let this guy go, but I'm not the management.

In his comments, Brodeur states that he believes Silovs was ready to play in the NHL, and after posting a 3.13 GAA in limited time for the team in his first few years, it's hard to argue with the veteran star.

Ultimately, after the financial commitment that the team had made to both Lankinen and Demko and their desires to compete for the playoffs in 2025/26, it makes sense for them to stick with the two veterans.

However, in case of injury, something that has been very common throughout Demko's career, Silovs would have been the perfect replacement, and now they may have to watch the 24-year old thrive elsewhere.
