Oilers' Zach Hyman may not be playing in the Stanley Cup Finals due to an injury, but he took the time to thank all the fans for their support in a heartfelt manner.
The Edmonton Oilers received some not-so-great news on Wednesday of last week: forward Zach Hyman will not be playing the remainder of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs following an injury in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final.
Hyman will undergo surgery, and his possible comeback date is not known, as he may miss the start of the next season as well.
Hyman was Edmonton's biggest contributor during their playoff push, scoring 11 points (five goals, six assists) in 15 games and tallying a dominant two-goal performance in Game 3 against Dallas.
As much as Hyman contributed on the scoresheet, he was also prominent in the physical game, the top among playoff skaters with 111 hits, 29 more than the player in second place.
Without Hyman, the Oilers will be relying on others to make up for the slack. One player who must pull his weight is Evander Kane. Kane has 10 points and four goals in the playoffs, but has yet to notch five goals in a playoff stretch as an Oiler.
Despite the disappointment, Hyman shared a heartfelt thank-you post on all social media, thanking fans and teammates for their encouragement and good wishes during the tough times.
'An emotional week, but I'm grateful to be back in the Stanley Cup Final. Thank you to everyone who reached out and showed support, it truly means a lot. I can't wait to support the boys in every way I can!'- Zach Hyman
He was ever so thankful to be able to show the world just how deeply the messages have moved him and how proud he feels to represent an organization that supports its players, in victory and adversity alike.
Game 1 gets underway on Wednesday at 6 PM MT in Edmonton, and fans cannot wait to watch these finals. Hyman will not doubt be glued to his television set while the team is on the road, and will likely watch from the arena for the home games.
