United States snowboarder Chloe Kim was aiming to become the first-ever three-peat gold medal winner in the women’s halfpipe in this year’s Winter Olympics.

Unfortunately, Kim finished with the silver medal, as South Korea’s Choi Ga-on won the gold. After the finish, Kim had a heartwarming gesture as she immediately congratulated the 17-year-old Ga-on on the gold.

Kim scored an 88 on the opening round, but Ga-on passed Kim with a stunning 90.25 score on the final round. Ga-on took a hard fall and lay motionless in the snow during her first run, making the comeback to win the gold medal even more impressive.

Kim was set to become the first-ever snowboarder to win three straight gold medals, and the third gold would’ve tied her with Shaun White for the most-ever by a snowboarder.

Still, Kim didn’t waste time and celebrated with Ga-on, a move that has quickly circulated across the internet.

Kim, the girlfriend of Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett, suffered a torn labrum before the Olympics but still managed to compete and get a silver medal. Kim had previously won gold at both the PyeongChang and Beijing Olympic Games.

Garrett was on hand in Italy to watch Kim’s run, and others, including Snoop Dogg, were also part of the Team USA cheering section.

Mitsuki Ono from Japan won the bronze medal in the women’s halfpipe event, but Kim’s performance and gesture is one that will be remembered in the USA.
