Eileen Gu already bagged a medal in her first event at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The American-born Chinese skier won silver at the slopestyle final on Monday. She turned in a strong performance but was edged out by Swiss skiing icon Mathilde Gremaud by just .38 points.

Her silver at the slopestyle final marked Gu’s fourth Olympic medal and first at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics. Gu is coming off a highly successful 2022 Beijing Olympics, where she won two golds (big air, halfpipe) and a silver medal (slopestyle).

Gu is now aiming to bring home her first gold medal from this year’s Winter Games. She will be back in the spotlight on Saturday for the highly anticipated women’s big air qualifying round.

Gu heads into the big air competition as the defending champion. She is not resting on her laurels, though. The 22-year-old has put in a lot of work in her preparations for her second Olympic stint.

On Friday, the two-time World Championships gold medalist took to social media to share an update ahead of the big air qualifying. Gu is making her final preparations ahead of the competition, and she’s completely locked in.

In her post, Gu revealed that her Valentine’s Day plans are completely focused on the big air final on Saturday.

“Don’t forget we have a date at Olympic Big Air qualifiers tomorrow !!! Be there ” she posted on Instagram.

In her video, Gu added a caption that read, “Valentine’s Day plans.” She was referring to a video of herself practicing her jump for the qualifiers. Gu will need to be at her best in order to qualify for the big air final on Monday.

The big air qualifying round is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Valentine’s Day. If she qualifies, Gu will defend her title in the big air final on Monday at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Gu has one more event after the big air. She is also aiming to make it back-to-back golds in the halfpipe competition. The qualifiers are scheduled for Thursday at 1:30 p.m. ET, while the final is on Feb. 21 at 1:30 p.m. ET.
