Olympics golf best bets: 2 long shots to target at the Paris Games

The PGA Tour steps aside this week to make way for the men's golf competition at the Paris Olympics. The 60-man field is extremely top-heavy with Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm topping the odds board, but there are still a few long shots catching our eye.

Let's check out two higher-priced players we're interested in backing at Le Golf National.

Guido Migliozzi (+10000 FanDuel)

Migliozzi isn't a household name because he plays on the DP World Tour, but that's helping boost his odds at the Paris Olympics. Whereas many players in this field don't have any experience playing Le Golf National, Migliozzi has played the Open de France here three times and won the event in 2022.

Experience is going to matter here based on the quirky setup of this course. Le Golf National features skinny fairways and water hazards on more than half the holes, taking driver out of play on many of the par 4s. It's going to be helpful to know which clubs to hit off the tee to stay out of trouble.

Migliozzi is coming in with great form, too, as he won the KLM Open last month during a stretch of five straight top-25 finishes. The Italian has been deadly accurate from off the tee for three straight months, and he's gained strokes from off the tee and on approach in six of his last seven starts. He can make some noise in Paris.

Top-10 finish: +450; Top-20 finish: +150

Abraham Ancer (+11000 FD)

You probably haven't kept up with Ancer if you don't follow LIV Golf, but the Mexican has been playing some solid golf this year. He won earlier this year in Hong Kong, which was played on a similar, short course that demands precision off the tee and on approach. That's Ancer's bread and butter.

Ancer ranks first on LIV this season in driving accuracy and 12th in greens in regulation percentage. He can play boring golf and avoid the big numbers, which is the exact way to attack Le Golf National.

Top-10 finish: +500; Top-20 finish: +150
