Why this unnoticed prospect from Rangers trade will thrive in New York

A couple of months ago, the New York Rangers traded Chris Kreider, sending him to the Anaheim Ducks, and in exchange, they got (besides a third-round pick) Carey Terrance, a young forward who, although he went under the radar for many, has the potential to be a fan-favorite, and here's why.

Why Carey Terrance can shine with Rangers

Terrance, 20, to star, has an ideal profile for the New York team, as he is a versatile player who can play in all three offensive lines. A multi-use factor that appeals a lot to coach Mike Sullivan, and that could generate that he soon earn his boss' trust.

The Akwesasne native has a hard-working style, as he tends to support in defensive labor. He's also a penalty kill specialist, something that will surely be well-received by the Rangers fans.

Another key contribution that he could give to the New York team is his leadership capability. He's just 20 years old, but last season was the Erie Otters captain, so we're talking about a player who arrives with some strong experience managing young dressing rooms, with a team mentality.

Terrance knows very well one of the right-wingers of the team, Gabe Perreault, who is already considered a big Rangers prospect. Both played for the USA in the U18 of 2023, where they won Gold, in addition to also participated in the World Juniors 2025.

For his numbers, youth, and profile, he has everything to become a key player for Sullivan in the next years. And truth be told, it's highly probable that he makes it in the next season.
