The folks in charge of the Ole Miss Rebels have to feel good about where they are headed in the post-Lane Kiffin era.
Pete Golding was Kiffin's defensive coordinator, and he showed up in a big way when Kiffin skipped town for the LSU Tigers. Kiffin may have gotten the Rebels to the College Football Playoff, but Golding took them all the way to the semifinals, where they lost a tough one to the Miami Hurricanes.
The Rebels appear to be in good hands with Golding, but they can't rest on their laurels.
Part of continuing their recent success is hitting on the recruiting trail as well as in the transfer portal, and Ole Miss did the latter on Wednesday evening.
Will these moves work out for all involved? That remains to be seen. What we do know, though, is that former Virginia Tech wide receiver Isaiah Spencer and former Syracuse wideout Darrell Gill have committed to Ole Miss in the portal.

Spencer played in all 12 games last season for the Hokies, but he didn't put up a ton of stats. He caught just 14 passes for 194 yards with no touchdowns, but it's not like much went well for the Hokies in 2025, anyhow.
The real excitement comes from Spencer's freshman and sophomore seasons at Jackson State, where he caught 59 passes for 867 yards and five touchdowns over two seasons. Checking in at 6-foot-2, 196 pounds as an incoming senior wideout, there's a lot for Ole Miss to work with here.
In Gill, the Rebels are getting a player who had a career year for the Orange in 2025. He caught 32 catches for 506 yards and five touchdowns as a junior for Syracuse. In 2024, as a sophomore, he caught 31 catches for 570 yards and two touchdowns.

Gill seems like a player on the verge of a big-time breakout, so it will be interesting to see how quickly he can assimilate into what Ole Miss plans to do for 2026.
Golding and Ole Miss have landed 16 players in this transfer portal cycle in a class that's ranked No. 6 in the nation.
