Texas A&M-Florida men's basketball game postponed due to COVID-19

The Texas A&M Aggies won't be cleared to play against the Florida Gators on Saturday, as hoped.

Both Texas A&M and Florida confirmed on Thursday that Saturday's clash has been postponed due to positive COVID-19 test results, contact tracing and subsequent quarantines impacting the Aggies. No makeup game for the contest was announced, and Texas A&M added no further information about a potential pause.

As noted by the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), the Aggies have now had four straight games postponed because of COVID-19 issues and concerns. Florida, meanwhile, has had three consecutive games called off.

Texas A&M hasn't competed since the team notched a 68-61 win over the Kansas State Wildcats on Jan. 30 to improve to 8-7 overall (2-6 in the conference). Florida fell to the South Carolina Gamecocks on Feb. 3 and dropped to 10-5 overall and 6-4 in conference play.

The Aggies will hope to host the No. 11-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide next Wednesday. Florida plays at the Arkansas Razorbacks next Tuesday night.

Any two-week pause caused by a full team quarantine this week should allow that squad to resume play in time for postseason competitions and tournaments. The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles men's basketball team has temporarily halted activities but is scheduled to return to action on Feb. 26.
