Blue Jackets share hilarious tribute to Jonathan Quick

A day after acquiring Jonathan Quick from the Los Angeles Kings, the Columbus Blue Jackets traded the veteran netminder again on Thursday. Following the trade, the Blue Jackets paid tribute to Quick with a hilarious thank you Tweet, including a pun fit for a middle-school valentine's card.

The Blue Jackets' Tweet read, "Our time with you was Quick but memorable," accompanied by a crude photoshop of Quick's head on the body of a Columbus player, but not a goaltender.

It's been a strange and emotional 24 hours for Quick. On Wednesday, the 16-year pro found himself traded for the first time in his career, headed to Columbus in exchange for Vladislav Gavrikov and Joonas Korpisalo.

Unsurprisingly, Quick wasn't pleased about leaving the only organization he's ever known for Columbus. According to Frank Servalli of The Daily Faceoff, Quick was so unhappy that he didn't immediately report to the Blue Jackets. Instead, Quick flew back to Los Angeles with the Kings following the end of a five-game East coast road trip. By Thursday afternoon, the Blue Jackets had flipped Quick to Vegas for goaltender Michael Hutchinson and a 2025 7th-round pick.

Selected in the third round of the 2005 NHL Draft by the Kings, Quick leaves LA as the franchise's all-time leader in wins (370), shutouts (57), and games played by a goalie (743).

The 37-year-old has struggled this season, going 11-13-4 over 27 starts with the Kings with a 3.50 GAA and a career-low .876 SV%.

Quick's future is uncertain as he's in the final year of a 10-year, $58 million contract and is eligible for free agency this offseason.
