Watch: Packers RB Aaron Jones posts his workout with Jordan Love

Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones has played with Aaron Rodgers for quite a few seasons now and it wasn't all that surprising when he asked the four-time MVP to "come home" to Green Bay earlier this spring.

That was before Rodgers went on The Pat McAfee Show and publicly said that he wanted to be traded to the New York Jets, echoing Brett Favre from so many years ago. That was also before Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst all but confirmed that Rodgers' time in Green Bay is essentially over and a trade between the Packers and Jets was on the runway in earnest.

Who could blame Jones, a Pro Bowler in 2020, for moving on? The Rodgers-Green Bay marriage heading for a breakup and it seems like Jones is trying to get out in front of it.

Indeed, he seems to be getting over Rodgers by metaphorically cozying up with his new quarterback, Jordan Love.

These kinds of workouts are about all either player can do at this stage. They have no control over how or when Rodgers is traded, but they do have control over their chemistry next season and beyond.

Though Jones is a running back, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur does utilize him as both a receiver out of the backfield and one lined up in the slot or even outside. Jones has 242 catches for 1,843 yards and 17 receiving touchdowns in his Green Bay career.

That includes five receiving touchdowns last season and six during the prior campaign.

For a young quarterback like Love -- facing all the pressure in the world on the cusp of taking over for a legend -- a multi-dimensional running back like Jones could end up being his best friend and greatest asset as the Packers move forward into an unknown future.
