The Detroit Lions continue to look like one of the best teams in the NFL through seven weeks.
Since their season-opening loss to the Green Bay Packers, Detroit has won five of its last six, including an impressive 24-9 win on Monday night against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers team that entered 5-1 and had been one of the most explosive teams in the league.
Former player and current ESPN analyst Jeff Saturday was on Tuesday's edition of "Get Up" and was asked where he would put the Lions among the best teams in the NFC.
"(Number) One. This is a very good football team," Saturday said. "... It wasn't a perfect game by the Lions. They didn't play perfectly. They still found a way to win. ... (Head coach) Dan Campbell's got these guys rolling. It was their best game of the season to me and I don't mean because of numbers. I mean because of quality opponent and the way and the style they won with physicality."

The Lions score the third-most points (30.7) in the league and put up at least 30 in each of their first four wins before they fell, 30-17, to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6.
A recurring issue for Detroit all season has been a depleted secondary. While it certainly held the Lions back against the Chiefs, you would never know they were without their first-string safeties, Brian Branch (suspension) and Kerby Joseph (knee), and top corners, Terrion Arnold (shoulder) and D.J. Reed (hamstring), by the way they played.
The Lions held Tampa Bay QB Baker Mayfield, who had been playing at an exceptionally high level, to his worst game of the season. In fact, Mayfield was only 1-for-13 on throws at least 15 yards down the field, which is the worst completion percentage on such throws in his career with at least five attempts, per the "Get Up" broadcast.
Running back Jahmyr Gibbs, who leads the team with 526 rush yards and six TDs, went off for a career-high 218 yards from scrimmage and looked simply unstoppable against a Buccaneers defense that only allowed 3.7 yards per carry entering the game.
Campbell believed that type of performance "was coming" for Gibbs and does not see him slowing down, especially if you consider the Lions will be well-rested for their upcoming Week 9 meeting with the Minnesota Vikings.
The Lions look like a complete team on both sides of the ball even with a defense that is missing several pieces. If this team is at full strength, it is clear how much potential is there for Detroit to go on another run and make some more noise.
