The Boston Celtics need only a win to complete a sweep of the NBA Finals, leading many to believe it could be the start of a dynasty. However, former MVP Joel Embiid might have something to say about it.
Ahead of Game 4, Embiid said he "can't stand" the Celtics and vowed to be the reason they won't return to the Finals next season.
"They know I'm right there," Embiid said. "I'm the MVP, don't forget that. I just got to get a little bit of luck, stay healthy and I know everything else is going to take care of itself."

While Embiid spoke about his role in stopping the Celtics from steam-rolling in the East again, he may also have been recruiting help. Oddly enough, seated next to soon-to-be free agent Paul George, Embiid said he hoped the 76ers would find a way to "add some pieces" before glancing at the Los Angeles Clippers star.
George is expected to decline his player option for 2024-25, while the Clippers plan to play hardball with the nine-time All-Star. Los Angeles still has just over two weeks to find common ground ahead of the start of free agency (June 30).
The Sixers should have plenty of money to burn this offseason and will undoubtedly be in the market for stars like George. However, they won't be alone, as the Orlando Magic are also among the teams rumored to be in the mix.
Embiid obviously has high expectations for next year, but he must be willing to back up his tough talk, especially against the Celtics. Boston has owned the Sixers as of late, knocking them out of the postseason twice since 2020, six of their last eight meetings.
