Paul George offers high praise to Bronny James with NBA player comp

The future of Bronny James is one of the biggest storylines of the 2024 NBA Draft, which is noteworthy for multiple reasons. Being the son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is obviously enough to spike the intrigue surrounding the former USC guard, but the debate over his NBA future is an even more interesting discussion.

It wouldn't be surprising to see James come off the board somewhere in the first round of the NBA draft, but it also wouldn't be a complete shock if he feel into the second round. Whether Bronny is NBA-ready is a fair debate, but his upside and potential are certainly there — and if you ask Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George, he agrees.

While discussing the younger James on his podcast, "Podcast P With Paul George," the forward offered two impressive player comps while praising Bronny's skillset.

"What’s most impressive is just his basketball savviness. He can do it all. I feel like he hasn’t shown that he can really be elite at a lot of things, but I think he can be elite at a lot of things," George said. "I compare him to the Jrue Holidays, the Derrick Whites...guys that are glue guys that can go do everything on the floor and help you. That’s kind of how I see him.”

Many analysts have praised James' upside, but comparing him to Jrue Holiday and Derrick White is noteworthy. The Boston Celtics guards have proven capable of doing virtually everything on both ends of the floor.

Holiday, specifically, is just one year removed from averaging 19.3 points, 7.4 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2022-23. While he held a different role on a loaded Celtics roster this season, Holiday is one of the NBA's best two-way players and was integral in the team's 2024 NBA title run.

What the future holds for Bronny remains an unknown, but if he can succeed on both ends of the floor, like either Celtics player, he'll be in for a long and successful NBA career.
