Kylian Mbappe won't be sporting tricolored mask at Euro 2024

The phrase "Masked Mbappe" was trending on social media after Kylian Mbappe was spotted wearing a mask adorned in the French tricolor during a Euro 2024 training session on Thursday.

Not that Mbappe, widely regarded as the best player in the world, needs any superpowers, but the aesthetics of his specially designed veil got some to compare him to a masked superhero.

Sadly, the French superstar won't be allowed to wear the tricolored mask for the remainder of Euro 2024. UEFA has specific rules on clothing and other protective gear worn during matches.

"Medical equipment (e.g. head protection, face-masks, casts, kneepads or knee braces, elbow pads): Medical equipment worn on the field of play must be a single color and free of team and manufacturer identification," reads a portion of UEFA's regulations on clothing.

Sky Sports Football later confirmed that Mbappe will sport a single-colored mask.

Mbappe fractured his nose during France's victory over Austria when his face collided with Kevin Danso's shoulder in a header attempt gone wrong. He would be subsequently rushed to a hospital in Dusseldorf to undergo several tests, where it was determined that he didn't require surgery.

There is a lot of uncertainty about Mbappe's availability for Friday's blockbuster clash against the Netherlands. According to L'Equipe, the French captain is expected to be on the bench and won't return to the football field until his country's final Group D game against Poland on Tuesday.

However, Mbappe teased playing against Holland via a social media post on Thursday.

"Without risks, there are no victories," he wrote on Instagram
