Cody Rhodes receives high praise from The Undertaker

Cody Rhodes overcame AJ Styles in an "I Quit" match at Clash at the Castle. Rhodes had handcuffed Styles to a turnbuckle before threatening him with a pair of steel steps.

For most WWE fans, this was the most intense version of Rhodes they've seen. During his tenure with WWE, Rhodes has been a baby face. You seldom see him bend the rules or push the level of violence on screen.

Perhaps that's why The Undertaker can envision Rhodes eventually making a heel turn. The WWE legend doesn't expect that to happen anytime soon, though.

“He’s doing a phenomenal job, and again, I think he’s gonna have a tremendous run as a baby face," The Undertaker said during an interview with Chris Van Vliet. "But, I think his bigger run will be as a heel. There’s just something about Cody with me that I envision a heel. It’s down the road because right now, he’s killing it as a baby face, his promos are on point, and he’s fighting all the people he’s supposed to be. He’s almost an anti-Roman."

Rhodes' run as undisputed champion will likely continue as a babyface. He is drawing massive ratings and is unquestionably the face of the company. The creative department will likely hold off on a potential heel switch until his momentum dies down. That way, they can re-invent Rhodes in a new string of storylines and position him to remain at the top for years to come. His recent contract extension with the company gives WWE the luxury of taking its time with Rhodes' character development.

Fortunately for Rhodes and WWE fans, Triple H is developing a reputation for favoring a slow storytelling style. As such, the narratives surrounding Rhodes' championship will likely stretch out into 2025 or beyond.

Nevertheless, it's encouraging to know that Rhodes has a whole other archetype he can exploit when the time is right. And given his persona and charisma, there's a good chance that the best is yet to come from arguably the biggest star of this generation of professional wrestlers.
