Texans QB says aging receiver 'hasn't lost a step'

Reunited, and it feels so good.

Thanks to the Texans' busy offseason, quarterback Case Keenum gets to reunite with wide receiver Stefon Diggs, with whom he shared his greatest career moment: the Minneapolis Miracle.

Keenum, 36, won't be Houston's starting quarterback barring an injury to second-year QB C.J. Stroud, as he is not the same player he used to be.

Many have questioned the same of Diggs, who will turn 31 this season. Keenum is not among those, however.

"Yeah, it's really cool to get back out there and see Stefon on the practice field and to watch him absolutely do some dirty things on some routes that I haven't seen anybody be able to do," Keenum said, via Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2. "He's a dynamic player and he hasn't lost a step."

Diggs is coming off yet another productive season in which he registered 107 catches for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns, but his numbers took a decline as the season progressed.

The four-time Pro Bowler eclipsed 75 receiving yards just once over the Bills' last 10 games of the year, including in the playoffs.

That has not dissuaded Keenum. In fact, he believes Diggs may be even better heading into year 10.

"If anything, he has gotten more savviness and can put some extra sauce on some routes when he needs to and win," Keenum added. "He's done a great job of continuing to build his craft and work his tools, his tool set, and I'm excited to see what he can do in the fall."

It's still unknown what exactly went wrong in Buffalo, but Diggs will have a chance to prove his doubters wrong in 2024.
