Caitlin Clark comments on possibly playing with Angel Reese in WNBA All-Star Game

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese could go from rivals to teammates in the WNBA All-Star Game on July 20 in Phoenix, Arizona.

The WNBA recently revealed its first round of fan voting for the All-Star Game. Unsurprisingly, the highly touted rookies were among the leaders. Clark garnered the second-most votes (216,247), while Reese had the seventh-most (118,490), via CBS Sports' Jack Maloney.

"I think both of us would probably tell you our focus is on playing basketball, and if that works out for the both of us, great, that would be a lot of fun — we've never played together," Clark said Sunday following an 88-87 loss to the Sky. "I guess I don't really know what all goes into how they select the All-Star team — I'm new to the league. I know fan vote is part of it, but there's also other criteria, it's not just fan vote. She's had a tremendous season, and if that was to happen, I'm sure people would love it."

Fan voting, which closes on June 29, accounts for 50% of the final tally, while player and media voting counts for 25%, respectively. If Clark and Reese finish among the top 10 vote-getters, they'll secure a spot in the game.

The WNBA All-Star Game features Team USA vs. Team WNBA. Since Clark and Reese didn't make the Olympic team, they would be assigned to Team WNBA. The official rosters will be revealed on July 3.

Regardless, Clark and Reese have cemented themselves as clear Rookie of the Year favorites and are helping the league become more popular. CBS Sports recently shared that the matchup between the Sky and Fever on June 16 was the most-watched WNBA game on any network in 23 years, averaging 2.25 million viewers.
