Vikings second-year WR believes he's taken his game 'to the next level'

The Vikings have questions at quarterback after parting ways with Kirk Cousins this offseason, but there's no question they have the talent to make whoever replaces him successful.

A big reason why is Minnesota's receiving corps, which is highlight by wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison and tight end T.J. Hockenson.

Addison, the No. 23 overall pick a year ago, believes he'll be even better in his second season.

"(I've) taken my game to the next level in one year," Addison said, via ESPN's Kevin Seifert. "Last year I wasn't as confident in my releases. I wasn't being decisive. I didn't have a plan when I was coming up to the line. I was just freelancing trying to make something work."

If that's the case, the Vikings could have one of the best wide receiver duos in the league. In 2023, Addison recorded 70 catches for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns while catching balls from Cousins, Josh Dobbs, Nick Mullens and Jaren Hall.

Part of why Addison was able to have such a successful rookie campaign was because Jefferson was limited to 10 games due to a hamstring injury. However, there's a strong argument that Jefferson will open things even more for Addison in 2024.

Addison must continue to take advantage of those opportunities, but head coach Kevin O'Connell has seen the 22-year-old put in the work this offseason to do just that.

"Jordan Addison had as good of an offseason program as really you can ask for," O'Connell said. "[He is] a guy that had a ton of success in Year 1. And really, from a standpoint of getting a little stronger, getting a little bit more comfortable playing through contact and still playing with that great burst and transition that he has, you saw some real growth there [this spring]."

Much of Addison's 2024 success will be dependent on veteran QB Sam Darnold and/or rookie QB J.J. McCarthy, but if last year proves anything, it's that Addison will still find a way to produce.
