Kansas State makes program history by landing this five-star TE

The Kansas State Wildcats aren't often in the running for five-star recruits, but for five-star tight end Linkon Cure ... it has been all K-State all the time.

Cure, from Goodland, Kansas, first jumped onto the scene because of Kansas State. The Wildcats were his first offer way back in June 2023. He's since received nearly 30 offers and had strong interest in Oregon, Kansas and Texas A&M — but an official visit to Manhattan in late June really sealed the deal in his mind.

He woke up early the morning of the official visit and drove right to Bill Snyder Family Stadium to take in the moment.

“I let a lot of tears out, unfortunately. It was pretty emotional for me because I started my whole process at a camp at K-State and then, that’s where it all was ending. It was definitely really emotional for me and that’s what it all came down to. I knew it was right," Cure explained to On3. "Coach [Chris] Klieman also came up there and had a conversation with me, which was really cool. We got some alone time in the stadium, so I absolutely loved everything about that."

That's quite a moment, and for Kansas State, the recently announced commitment became the first time in program history that the Wildcats have landed a five-star recruit.

According to 247Sports, Cure is the No. 2 tight end in the 2025 class and the No. 26 recruit in the country.

"For Kansas State to be my first offer, starting my recruitment there and ending it there, that meant everything to me while I was sitting up in those stands and reflecting on everything. It’s a moment I’m going to remember for the rest of my life," Cure said.
