Watch: Darwin Nunez, Uruguay players brawl with Colombia fans after Copa America loss

Tensions were high during Wednesday's Copa America semifinal between Uruguay and Colombia, but tempers boiled over after the match ended.

Postgame video shows Uruguay players, including Liverpool star Darwin Nunez, entering the stands and fighting with Colombia fans after their 1-0 loss and elimination from the tournament.

Uruguay's Jose Maria Gimenez spoke to a reporter after the brawl and said some inebriated Colombia fans "stormed all our families" in the stands and the players felt the need to go and protect them, calling the situation "a disaster."

The off-field violence appears to be an extension of hostilities that originated from shoves and words exchanged by players immediately following the final whistle.

The match itself was filled with moments of aggression and frustration between the two teams.

Particularly when Colombia's Daniel Munoz received his second consecutive yellow card for elbowing Uruguay's Manuel Ugarte just before halftime, resulting in Munoz being sent off.

Colombia ultimately held on for the 1-0 win, sending them to their third-ever Copa America final where they'll face 15-time champion Argentina on Sunday.
