Suffice it to say, the Georgia Bulldogs have earned the right to be betting favorites ahead of the college football season. Whether you should go ahead and bet on them, however, isn't so set in stone.
Kirby Smart's men went 13-1 last season, and despite not making it to the national championship game in 2023 are still fierce competitors out of the SEC. It should come as little surprise, then, that they are +320 (16-5) favorites at DraftKings to win their third title in four years.
How do those odds compare to those of their biggest adversaries? Here's a look at the competition with oddsmakers.

“They got all those boxes checked, but here’s the thing, they’re as hungry as any program in America.”@LateKickJosh is rolling with the Buckeyes as the No. 3 program for the next 3 years ️ @OhioStateFB | @Bucknuts247 pic.twitter.com/0ZvaDDfvUF

Ryan Day and the Buckeyes had to watch conference rival Michigan roll to an undefeated season and a CFP title last year, so they are as hungry as any team to win college football's top prize this year.
And even with immense pressure on Ohio State after they limped into the offseason, the offseason recruiting — for both the roster and the coaching staff — has them prepped for a comeback campaign.
"Combined with a couple of key retentions on defense — including potential first-round defensive linemen J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer — the Buckeyes are on track to rank No. 1 in the preseason polls," CBS Sports said back in April.
The Longhorns topped the Big 12 with a 12-2 record last year and are feeling good about themselves as they join the SEC. But will that be enough to top the Bulldogs and win it all at 15-2 odds?
As it turns out, oddsmakers are loving the matchup between these two teams as they become conference rivals. As Sports Illustrated pointed out back in February, the Longhorns were already 1.5-point favorites at FanDuel to beat the Bulldogs when these teams do battle in Austin on Oct. 19.
"Texas has a playoff quarterback in Quinn Ewers who returns a playoff offensive line and running back room," Yahoo! Sports says. "It brings in two playoff transfer receivers in Alabama’s Isaiah Bond and Amari Niblack with several key returning players from a playoff defense. It’s a golden opportunity to win it all."
The Ducks are entering a new era this fall as they join the Big Ten and go into battle without Bo Nix under center. That makes them a bit of a dark horse in this race.
But that doesn't mean Oregon isn't a team to look out for at 17-2 odds.
In fact, Kyle Golik of Mike Farrell Sports ranks Oregon ahead of Georgia on a list of what college football programs will be on top at the end of the decade because of the superior job head coach Dan Lanning has done when it comes to both coaching and recruiting.
"The talent Lanning is assembling in Eugene is worthy to be near the top of the country, only thing Oregon has to do is produce results," Golik writes.
That's worth keeping in mind when you place your CFP bets for this season.
