Giants' Jalin Hyatt has bold predictions for 2024 season

Second-year wide receiver Jalin Hyatt thinks people are sleeping on the New York Giants' passing attack after the club made star LSU wideout Malik Nabers the sixth overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.

"Yes, they are," Hyatt told Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post,. "We can say what it is now, but we have to go on the field and make it happen. That’s what we’re going to do — talk with our actions. We have four or five dynamic receivers — all of us confident, all of us want the ball. We’re going to be explosive this year."

The Giants had high hopes last summer that Hyatt, a 2023 third-round draft pick, would quickly thrive playing alongside quarterback Daniel Jones. However, Jones performed poorly before he suffered a torn ACL on Nov. 5, and Hyatt ultimately ended his rookie season with just 23 receptions for 373 yards and zero touchdowns.

"Week 1," Hyatt said about when he expects to end his touchdown drought. "I’m hungry. I’ve never had a season in my life of not scoring a touchdown. That stays with me. That will probably stay with me for the rest of my life. I’ll be ready."

Jones seemingly is on track to start New York's regular-season opener versus the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 8. Hyatt sounds optimistic his QB1 will be good to go for that matchup and can reclaim the form that helped the signal-caller receive a four-year contract worth up to $160M in March 2023.

"I’ve been with D.J. the majority of the time of my offseason," Hyatt mentioned. "He looks good. He’s back running, and I can’t wait to be back in camp. It’s that time. Seeing how confident he is — especially after all the setbacks he went through throughout his career — it’s impressive. I love seeing him get after it."

The Giants can escape Jones' contract next offseason if the 27-year-old doesn't play at a top-tier level while throwing passes to teammates such as Hyatt and Nabers. As of Tuesday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Giants at +115 betting odds to notch over 6.5 wins this coming season. Such forecasts show many believe Big Blue will part ways with Jones as soon as they can in March 2025.
