Insider provides update on Packers' Jordan Love contract situation

As the Green Bay Packers continue with training camp, all eyes are on the contract situation of Jordan Love. While he isn’t on the field, he is around the facility.

Love being around is a good sign that things shouldn’t be too far off, but it has been a couple of days already and Love still doesn’t have a new contract. As a quarterback coming off a career season, Love is poised to cash in with his new contract, as he might reset the market.

Insider Dianna Russini provided an update about where things stand in contract negotiations.

Packers fans (and many around the league) are all waiting to hear if Jordan Love's new BIG contract is complete. Based on my conversations today, it's all making progress and heading there. Just not done at this time.

With likely hundreds of millions of dollars heading Love's, it makes sense that the deal is taking some time to come together. As we have seen in recent years, the Packers front office has done a very good job not only in terms of drafting and scouting players but also in managing contract negotiations.

Love is coming off a great year, as he was one of the best quarterbacks in the league in the second half of the season. Coming into 2024, Love is projected to be an MVP candidate, as he currently has the fifth-best odds in the NFL.

For the Packers and Love, they would likely want to get a deal done as soon as possible, as a holdout lasting more than a week would start to cause some concern and potential drama in Green Bay. With the Packers being a contender in the NFC, they likely want to avoid all potential distractions and have a great training camp.
