Watch: Lionel Messi needs just 11 minutes to record first MLS hat trick

Saturday was a huge night for Lionel Messi and Inter Miami.

On the team side, Miami's 6-2 win over the New England Revolution helped the club set a new single-season MLS points record, giving them 74 points in only 34 games during the regular season.

The big star of the win — and their season as a whole — was Messi as he recorded his first hat trick in MLS.

The most staggering part of his hat trick was that he needed just 11 minutes on the pitch to score the three goals.

His third goal was an absolutely sensational finish off an equally sensational pass from teammate Luis Suarez.

His first goal of the match came on this powerful strike in the 78th minute from just outside of the penalty area.

He followed it with his second goal just three minutes later.

Scoring three goals in a professional soccer match is hard enough no matter what league you are playing in. Scoring three goals in 11 minutes is the type of dominance and brilliance that can only come from one of the greatest to ever play the sport.
