The story of the game was the sensational freshman for the Commodores. With 53 points (16-of-24 FG, 16-of-18 FT), Blakes posted a career-high and set multiple records in the process.
She broke teammate Khamil Pierre's school-record of 42 points, which was set against Evansville earlier this season. This is the moment Blakes accomplished the feat with over four minutes remaining.

On top of that, Blakes set the NCAA Division I freshman record for points, surpassing USC star Juju Watkins (51). Blakes also broke the SEC scoring record of 51 points, which was set by South Carolina's Jocelyn Penn in 2003 and Tennessee's Patricia Roberts in 1976.
This comes after Blakes previously set the Vanderbilt freshman record with 36 points against Georgia, hit the game-winning shot to upset Tennessee and scored 33 at Alabama on Sunday.
The five-star recruit in the 2024 class came into the night averaging 21 points per game and is the only D-I freshman with multiple 30-point games this season, per Aria Gerson of The Tennessean.
The team shot 53.1% overall and 52.4% from deep in the game. The Commodores (18-4, 5-3 SEC) have won four straight and look like a legit contender in the conference.
Blakes has put up 20 or more points 14 times this season and is not showing any signs of slowing down. After setting multiple records against the Gators, the freshman is playing like one of the best players in the entire country, and it is only her first season. The rest of the conference and all of D-I have been put on notice once again by her heroics.
