Detroit Tigers designated hitter Kerry Carpenter had his first career three HR game during Monday's 13-1 blowout win over the Chicago White Sox.
The four-year veteran got started in the first inning with a two-run 401-foot home run off White Sox starting pitcher Jonathan Cannon for his first long ball in nine games. Carpenter's most recent home run before Monday came on May 20 against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Per the Tigers social media account, Carpenter became the team's first player to hit three home runs in a game since Victor Martinez on June 16, 2016.
It was Carpenter's second multi-home run game this season; he hit two in a 7-4 win over the White Sox on April 4. OptaStats noted that Carpenter's last seven hits against the Sox dating back to Sept. 29 have been home runs.

The Tigers (40-21) have the AL's best record over a third of the way through the 2025 regular season, but they entered Monday in a lull at the plate since mid-May.
Per FanGraphs, since May 17, Detroit ranked 28th in team batting average (.207) through Sunday.
Carpenter struggled during the stretch, slashing .170/.204/.277 with one home run and 13 strikeouts in 47 at-bats (50 plate appearances). If Carpenter's home run barrage snaps him out of his slump, the Tigers, who possess a 6.5-game lead over the Cleveland Guardians (32-26) in the AL Central, will be hard to catch.
