Yankees' Cody Bellinger has incredible revenge game against Cubs

New York Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger played his first game against the Chicago Cubs on Friday night since the team traded him this offseason. He made them pay in a big way.

Bellinger delivered just the 43rd three home run game in Yankees franchise history, also driving in six runs in the team's 11-0 win.

It is already their third three home run game of the season with Bellinger joining Aaron Judge and Jasson Dominguez.

They are now one away from tying the major league record.

The crazy thing about the three home runs is that it was very nearly a four home run game. He missed on that opportunity in the bottom of the seventh inning when he hit a fly ball deep to right field that looked to be going over the wall, only to have Cubs right fielder Kyle Tucker leap at the wall and pull it back.

He ended up getting his third home run in the very next inning.

Friday's performance continues what has been an absolutely incredible stretch for Bellinger that has seen him be one of the best hitters in the league over the past few weeks.

Entering play on Friday he had an OPS over 1.000 over the previous 15 days, and has had an OPS over .860 since the start of May.

He is also currently on a 16-game hitting streak.

The Yankees acquired Bellinger as part of their offseason overhaul to try and replace free agent Juan Soto after he signed with the New York Mets. While Bellinger may not be quite on Soto's level as a hitter, he and Paul Goldschmidt have proven to be strong additions to the roster and helped balance out the Yankees lineup.
