The Los Angeles Lakers are no doubt aware of the rumors surrounding LeBron James, and appear totally relaxed about them.
The Lakers have received no indication from James or his representatives that the star player wants a trade, according to Dan Woike and Joe Vardon of The Athletic. Both the Lakers and sources close to the James expect him to be with the team for training camp.
Much has been made of a potential trade or buyout of James, but the two sides have not even discussed those possibilities. Most of the rumors are being spread by rivals that might have interest in James were he to become available.
Public comments from agent Rich Paul about James’ future sparked speculation, and James himself has not really gone out of his way to shut it down. If anything, some of his moves have even fed into the speculation, and the way the Lakers have reportedly treated him is not going to do anything to cut down on the rumors either.
James’ future is essentially being decided on a year-to-year basis at this point. For now, there is no reason to believe his career will not conclude with the Lakers, but things can change quickly.
