Denver Broncos second-year quarterback Bo Nix learned invaluable lessons from a future Hall of Famer this offseason.
At the start of training camp in July, Broncos head coach Sean Payton said Nix had sought advice from former New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees. (He played for the coach from 2006-20.) It sounds like they didn't just chit-chat.
"He was so intentional," Nix said of Brees in a Wednesday "Scoop City" clip. "A guy like that, I go and hang out with him for a couple of hours, a few days. I would understand if you didn't want to take the time and you wanted to just get through it. I get it. You've got a family. You've got a lot. But he had lists of things like, 'Hey, this is what I think we should do."
Things are starting to click for Bo Nix.

Nix said Brees went over his routine and other things that worked for him throughout his storied career. He also threw with the Super Bowl XLIV MVP, but the 25-year-old QB explained that wasn't the most important part.
"Just sitting down and having a few meals with him was the best part," the Broncos star said. "Because, I mean, you go out there and throw, and at some point we all throw. That's not why you go hang out with a guy like that. It's just the mental side of the game that you can make strides in. That's what speeds your growth up."
Nix tossed the league's sixth-most touchdown passes (29 in 17 starts) in 2024, finishing third in Offensive Rookie of the Year voting behind Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers and Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels.
Spending time with Brees could help the Auburn/Oregon product take another massive step after the impressive rookie year and meet Payton's lofty expectations. The coach has said the 2025 Broncos could be his seventh team that can win a Super Bowl.
Broncos fans may be thanking Brees at the end of the season if Nix puts his tips to good use.
