Denver Broncos second-year quarterback Bo Nix lacked one big thing through his first 21 starts: a signature win.
Doubts about Nix's ability to win big games remained ahead of Sunday's road game against the Philadelphia Eagles, the defending Super Bowl champions. During his rookie season, he went 2-5 against teams that made the playoffs. In a 23-20 Week 2 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers this season, the 12th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft struggled again.
After helping Denver mount a historic comeback against Philadelphia, though, it doesn't look like Nix is a QB who shrinks when it matters most.
In a 21-17 win, the Broncos improved to 3-2 after stunning the previously undefeated Eagles (4-1). Per Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports, it's Denver's first victory in Philadelphia since the 1986 season, when Hall of Famer John Elway was the team's QB.
Like Elway — who had 31 fourth-quarter comebacks in his career — Nix saved his best for last. Per Pro Football Focus, in the fourth quarter, he completed 9-of-10 passes for 126 yards and one touchdown. He also led the Broncos on three scoring drives, helping them erase a 14-point deficit.

It still wasn't one of Nix's better statistical games. He finished 24-of-39 passing for 242 yards and one TD with a slightly below-average 87.8 passer rating.
Plus, he couldn't have pulled off the comeback without another stellar performance from Denver's defense, which sacked Eagles QB Jalen Hurts six times. Nix made sure to praise the unit in his postgame interview with CBS Sports' Tracy Wolfson, saying its play was "incredible."
Still, Nix proved he can help lift the Broncos out of a difficult situation when facing an elite opponent. That'll be critical in a competitive AFC West.
The Broncos face the Kansas City Chiefs in Weeks 11 and 17 and the Chargers again in Week 18. Both of those matchups will be challenging. However, at least Denver knows it can count on Nix, even when chips are down.
