Giants teammates praise Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo after shocking win over Eagles

New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart and first-year running back Cam Skattebo delighted the home crowd with their performances in a 34-17 win over the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday. The victory improved Big Blue to 2-4 on the season.

Following the game, Giants players praised Dart and Skattebo, who were the talk of New York sports radio on Friday.

Jaxson Dart, Cam Skattebo are leading Giants to victory

"He’s leading men to victory," Giants running back Tyrone Tracy said about Dart, per Darryl Slater of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com. "It tells us he’s ready for whatever comes his way. When he’s on the field, you can feel it."

Dart completed 17-of-25 passes for 195 yards with a touchdown to go along with 58 rushing yards and a score on 13 carries versus the Eagles. Meanwhile, Skattebo contributed 98 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground to help the Giants improve to 2-4.

Numbers only tell part of the story regarding what Dart and Skattebo have offered the Giants since the former was named New York's QB1 after Week 3. The two have developed reputations for holding nothing back during games, and that boldness has won the respect of others in the locker room.

Giants players love their "aggressive" rookies

"He’s just an aggressive dude," Giants cornerback Cor'Dale Flott said about Skattebo, as shared by Bridget Hyland of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com. "That’s just Skat."

Rookie pass-rusher Abdul Carter noted that Dart is "a little bit crazy."

"That gives us juice,” Giants safety Tyler Nubin said about watching Dart dive for first downs. "When we see that, we’re like, 'Hell yeah.' And then we want to go out there and back him up."

In August, Giants head coach Brian Daboll urged Dart to slide in certain instances during games. Dart has since been evaluated for concussions twice in three starts, which could lead one to assume there's little chance he'll remain in the lineup through Week 18.

For now, Nubin and Co. are focusing on what Thursday's win could mean for the Giants, who are coming off back-to-back losing campaigns.

"Once you see that it’s possible, anything can happen," Nubin said about Big Blue's win over Philadelphia. "Once we get that belief system in the building and we keep building on that, the sky is the limit. This is just the beginning of this. The way this team is molding is just getting started."

Skattebo insisted New York is no longer "a losing franchise," while Dart discussed removing the "negativity" that has hovered over the organization. If nothing else, the two have given hope to Giants fans.
