The New York Giants went through another major scare with rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart in Week 10.
He couldn't finish the 24-20 loss to the Chicago Bears after being evaluated for a concussion. It's the fourth time that has happened already in Dart's young career, and it may have been the straw that broke the camel's back with Brian Daboll.
As pointed out by NFL insider Ari Meirov, the former Giants' head coach put his young quarterback in harm's way too often.

– Evaluated for a concussion four times
– Taken 75+ hits
– Leads all QBs with 25 designed runs, despite not starting until Week 4
– Also battled hamstring and ankle injuries. https://t.co/w5LDt4jj57 pic.twitter.com/0JODynA4fY
Dart is a reckless competitor, but it's the team's job to protect him from himself.
He's taken way too many hits already, and that's just unsustainable.
He clearly has the physical traits to be an elite dual-threat quarterback and make some plays with his legs, but he has to look at the big picture.
Through nine appearances (seven starts), the rookie out of Ole Miss has completed 62.7 percent of his passes for 1,417 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also has 57 carries for 317 yards and seven rushing touchdowns.
He's now likely to miss Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers, but that might not be the worst idea.
Going forward, interim head coach Mike Kafka and whoever gets the nod to replace Daboll need to take care of the most important player in the building.
