The Notre Dame Fighting Irish hosted 2027 four-star safety Khalil Terry for an unofficial visit past weekend.
That visit went so well that Terry has decided to commit to Notre Dame. He didn't go into South Bend wanting to commit, but rather to check things out. He almost didn't even wind up visiting Notre Dame, but the Irish have to be happy that it all worked out.
“I really wasn’t expecting to commit there prior to the visit,” Terry told Greg Biggins of Rivals. “In fact, I almost didn’t make the trip. We had to cancel our Friday night flight and our early morning flight Saturday was delayed and we barely made our connecting flight, or I wouldn’t have made it out there."
Ultimately, Terry came into the visit knowing that he felt good about his relationships with defensive backs coach Mike Mickens as well as director of player personnel Jourdan Blake. The trip to Notre Dame to meet everyone else simply sealed the deal.
"Once I spent time with the rest of the staff and saw how I fit in there, I knew it was the place for me," Terry said.
Tennessee and USC were also in the running for the four-star from Tustin, California.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Terry is the No. 21 safety in the 2027 class, so he's a big-time recruit.
Terry likes his fit with Notre Dame defensively, but he also views this as a "more than football" type of move.
“With Notre Dame, it’s the degree and the opportunities outside of football that are big too,” Terry said. “The coaching staff spent a lot of time going over things that will help me after I’m done playing. The Notre Dame network is big for sure.”
Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman is building something special with his 2027 class. As it stands, he has six 2027 commitments, and the class is ranked No. 6 nationally.
