Each and every NBA season is full of surprise teams and breakout players.
Among those through the first month of this season is undoubtedly the Toronto Raptors.
Headed into Wednesday, Toronto had the third longest winning streak in the league at eight games, trailing the Detroit Pistons (13) and Oklahoma City Thunder (10).
The Raptors found themselves in a hard-fought battle with the Indiana Pacers in the closing moments of Wednesday's game. That was when veteran forward Brandon Ingram stepped up in the biggest way, delivering a game-winning shot to help Toronto come away with a 97-95 win and extends its winning streak to nine games.

Ingram was traded to the Raptors last season and then signed a three-year, $120M contract extension with Toronto.
In his first 18 games with the team, Ingram is averaging 21.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists on 48.6% shooting from the field. Alongside RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and Scottie Barnes, the Raptors have an excellent mix of young stars and veteran leadership that is leading to early success.
Toronto does not play again until Saturday when it will travel to take on the 4-14 Charlotte Hornets. That is the first game of a back-to-back that includes a trip up the east coast to take on the New York Knicks.
Wins over Charlotte and New York would extend the win streak to eleven and potentially cement the Raptors as true title contenders this season.
