Five takeaways from AP Top 25 men's basketball poll

In this week's Associated Press Top 25 men's college basketball poll, the top two teams continue to separate from the pack, while an unexpected unbeaten emerges. Here are five takeaways from the poll, which was released on Monday.

Arizona, Michigan remain at the top

Despite facing halftime deficits to then-No. 12 Alabama and Maryland, respectively, the Wildcats (9-0) and Wolverines (10-0) stormed back to preserve their undefeated seasons.

With freshman Brayden Burries leading the way with a career-high 28 points, Arizona picked up a historic win over the Crimson Tide. For Michigan, forward Yaxel Lendeborg went off for a season-high 29 points as the Wolverines hit the century mark for the fifth time in 10 games, joining the 1988-89 Michigan team for the most 100-point games in program history over the first 10 games of a season.

Nebraska surges after road win over Illinois

The Cornhuskers (11-0), up eight spots to No. 15, are off to their best start in program history and their longest winning streak (15 games) dating back to last season after guard Jamarques Lawrence's game-winning three in the final second gave Nebraska the 83-80 road victory over then-No. 13 Illinois (8-3) on Saturday.

With an average of 11.2 made threes per game, good for 12th in the country, Nebraska is proving it is a true Big Ten contender this season. The Illinois win was its first against a ranked opponent this season, but plenty more opportunities await in conference play to prove that win was only just the beginning for the program.

BYU stays at No. 10 amid AJ Dybantsa's historic start

Sophomore guard Robert Wright III may have hit the buzzer-beater to cap BYU's largest second-half comeback in program history against Clemson, but the freshman sensation Dybantsa willed the Cougars to the win by scoring or assisting on 34 of the team's 45 points after the break.

Following his 26-point effort against UC Riverside on Saturday, Dybantsa became the second freshman in program history to score 200 points in his first 10 games (Danny Ainge, 1977-78). The Big 12 is loaded, but BYU (9-1) has shown you can never count it out, especially when Dybantsa is affecting the game in so many ways.

Arkansas, Kansas move up after clutch wins

The Razorbacks (8-2), up three spots to No. 14, outdueled then-No. 16 Texas Tech in a 93-86 win on Saturday, avenging a Sweet 16 loss to the Red Raiders last season. Fifth-year senior Trevon Brazile was key in the win, posting his second 20-point, 10-rebound game of the season with 24 points (4-of-5 3PT) and 10 rebounds, only elevating Arkansas' ceiling that much more.

The Jayhawks (8-3) move up two spots to No. 17 following senior guard Melvin Council Jr.'s career-high 36 points in a 77-76 overtime win over NC State on Saturday. The health of star freshman Darryn Peterson is crucial to Kansas' success going forward, though, after missing seven games with a hamstring injury and exiting Saturday's game with what head coach Bill Self described as "quad cramping."

Georgia enters the poll

Following an 11-day break, the Bulldogs (9-1) picked up an 84-65 win over Cincinnati on Saturday, outscoring the Bearcats 47-28 in the second half. Georgia is now ranked 25th in the country, largely due to its Division-I-leading 98.3 points per game.
