Patrick Mahomes' ACL injury draws more parallels to Tom Brady

The Kansas City Chiefs' nightmare of a season ended in the worst possible way.

QB Patrick Mahomes suffered an ACL injury and will miss the rest of the season as well. It was a fitting and unfortunate end to a disappointing season by Andy Reid's team. Oddly enough, it may have inched Mahomes closer to Tom Brady. As pointed out by NFL insider Jordan Schultz, history may have repeated itself with this bad break.

Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady suffered the same injury under similar circumstances

"History repeating: Both Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes suffered torn ACLs in their 9th NFL seasons. Both ACL injuries came the year after losing a Super Bowl, with both QBs already having won 3 Super Bowls prior to that," Schultz wrote on X.

Of course, no one wants to get hurt, but injuries are an inevitable part of the game. That goes to show just how difficult it is to win consistently in the NFL. Mahomes might be the only player with a legitimate chance to at least catch Brady at the top of the winningest quarterbacks list, and it's pretty safe to say that Brady landed right back on his feet after this major injury.

The game is always better when the best are on the field, and Mahomes has already vowed to come back stronger than ever. Will history continue to repeat itself with Mahomes replicating what Brady did after this devastating injury? Is this the end of the Chiefs as we know them? For now, only time will tell.
