NFL Week 17 winners, losers: Raiders end up winning with Week 17 loss

With most of the NFL Week 17 schedule in the book, it is time to take a look at some of the biggest winners and losers from Sunday's action. Division titles were clinched, opportunities were missed and some winner-take-all games are set for Week 18 next weekend.

NFL Week 17 winners

Drake Maye, quarterback, New England PatriotsThe Patriots are AFC East champions, and the rapid development and play of Maye is one of the biggest reasons why. He was absolutely clinical on Sunday, completing 19-of-21 passes for 256 yards, five touchdowns and zero interceptions. He also rushed for 22 more yards on three carries.

Joe Burrow, quarterback, Cincinnati Bengals. It may not have mattered for the season overall, but Burrow is still finishing the season strong. He threw for 305 yards and two touchdowns to help the Bengals win their sixth game of the season.

NFL broadcast partners. It looked like there was a chance the Week 18 schedule could be a dud with no meaningful games. But several division titles are still up for grabs, including two winner-take-all games in the AFC North (Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens) and NFC South (Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers). That makes for a compelling regular-season finale.

Las Vegas Raiders draft position. They lost 34-10 to the New York Giants on Sunday, but it might pay off in the long run. The Raiders are now in position to secure the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. So they have that going for them.

Tyler Shough, quarterback, New Orleans Saints. The Saints are ending the season on a roll, having now won four consecutive games. Shough is playing a big role in that and looking like he has a chance to be their starting quarterback going into next season. He completed 22-of-27 passes for 333 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday.

Quinn Ewers, quarterback, Miami DolphinsEwers played the role of spoiler on Sunday and earned his first NFL win, helping the Dolphins beat Tampa Bay. He completed 14-of-22 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

NFL Week 17 losers

Pittsburgh Steelers offense. Every aspect of this unit gets a failing grade. With a chance to win the division and play a three-win team, they managed just six points. Aaron Rodgers made baffling decisions all day. The play-calling made no sense. They did not utilize the best playmakers they had on the field. DK Metcalf took himself out of the game by being suspended. Now they are in a position where they could lose the AFC North after being in full control of it.

Carolina Panthers. They had a chance to secure the NFC South thanks to Tampa Bay losing to the Dolphins. They let it slip away by getting blown out by the Seattle Seahawks. Now they have to beat Tampa Bay in Week 18, on the road, to secure the division.

Indianapolis Colts' second half of season. The Colts were already eliminated from playoff contention going into Sunday's game, but another loss is still a tough look and tough way for this season to end. After starting the season 8-2, the Colts have now lost six in a row and seven of their past eight games.

Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals started the season 2-0. They have gone 1-13 since then. That is not only a lack of progress for head coach Jonathan Gannon, but it is a massive step backwards.

New York Jets defense. Another week without an interception for the Jets defense. That means they are just one week away from going an entire season without intercepting a single pass. That seems almost unfathomable. They also allowed 42 points in another total failure of a game. Tough look for a team with a first-year head coach whose specialty is supposed to be on the defensive side of the ball.

Michael Badgley, kicker, Buffalo BillsKicking might be a big problem for the Bills. Badley attempted one kick on Sunday, an extra point, and missed it. That ended up being a pivotal play in the game as the Bills ended up losing to the Philadelphia Eagles, 13-12, after a missed two-point conversion that was partly forced due to Badley's mixed kick. His overall numbers this season between the Colts and Bills are ugly, as he has already missed five extra points between the two teams.
