With the transfer portal set to close on Jan. 16, teams are scrambling to find quality quarterbacks. Big-time signal-callers continue to come off the board.
On Monday, Arizona State five-star transfer quarterback Sam Leavitt pledged to LSU, while Nebraska four-star transfer QB Dylan Raiola has decided to move to Oregon.
Still, some talented transfer quarterbacks remain available, although they might not be for much longer. Not only does the portal close on Friday, but schools are starting their spring semesters this week. Time is of the essence.
Husan Longstreet
Freshman at Southern California
2025 stats: 13-of-15 for 103 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions
On3 transfer portal industry rankings: 4 stars, No. 17 overall and No. 6 at QB
Recruitment: Longstreet reportedly visited LSU over the weekend, but the Tigers have since landed Leavitt. That could cause Longstreet to re-evaluate things. Another school that has already made an addition, Oregon, appears to be a player for Longstreet, too.
Ethan Grunkemeyer
Redshirt freshman at Penn State
2025 stats: 123-of-178 for 1,339 yards with eight touchdowns and four interceptions
On3 transfer portal industry rankings: 4 stars, No. 64 overall and No. 13 at QB
Recruitment: Analysts expect that Grunkemeyer will ultimately sign with Virginia Tech, where former Penn State head coach James Franklin is the new boss of the Hokies.
Beau Pribula
Senior at Missouri
2025 stats: 182-of-270 for 1,941 yards with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions
On3 transfer portal industry rankings: 3 stars, No. 126 overall and No. 16 at QB
Recruitment: Per On3, Pribula has visited Virginia Tech (Pribula spent time at Penn State with Franklin), Nebraska, Washington, Georgia Tech and Tennessee of late. He is eyeing an upcoming visit to Virginia, too. The Volunteers and the Cavaliers may have the upper hand here.
Eli Holstein
Sophomore at Pittsburgh
2025 stats: 77-of-125 for 1,081 yards with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions
On3 transfer portal industry rankings: 3 stars, No. 377 overall and No. 29 at QB
Recruitment: Last week, an article from Pro Football Network looked at schools that might pursue Holstein, including Vanderbilt and James Madison. On3 says that Ole Miss is a squad to watch for Holstein as well.
Jake Merklinger
Freshman at Tennessee
2025 stats: 13-of-24 for 173 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions
On3 transfer portal industry rankings: 3 stars, No. 518 overall and No. 34 at QB
Recruitment: There is not a lot of chatter in Merklinger's recruitment, at least not yet. He figures to serve as a backup for a power-conference team or perhaps a starter at a Group-of-5 program.
