George Kittle just wanted a drink after suffering a devastating lower-body injury in Sunday’s playoff game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Niners’ star tight end was carted off the field in the second quarter of the contest with what was later determined to be an Achilles tear. It is a season-ending injury that San Francisco will have to overcome if the team is to go all the way and win the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
There are ways to cope with such tough news, especially in the playoffs, and Kittle got by with the help of San Francisco team owner Jed York — and some alcohol.
After suffering the injury, Kittle asked York for a bottle of tequila, according to David Lombardi of The San Francisco Standard.
Fortunately for the 49ers, they were able to take care of business against Philadelphia, as they came away with a 23-19 victory and a ticket to the NFC Divisional Round.
Kittle’s absence will be felt by San Francisco’s offense, but the team still has talented and healthy weapons on the roster, including none other than running back Christian McCaffrey, who had 66 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns on 6 receptions versus the Eagles.
Meanwhile, tight ends Jake Tonges and Luke Farrell could see increased work in the divisional round against the Seattle Seahawks.
