Grant Udinski locked in with Jaguars but has eyes on head-coaching gig

Grant Udinski is guaranteed to be the offensive coordinator of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2026.

He's also been given an extension and is expecting to get a raise.

With that said, the Jaguars shouldn't get comfortable just yet.

Udinski could absolutely come back in 2026 and help head coach Liam Coen try to get the Jags over the hump in the AFC. He is a candidate for the Buffalo Bills' vacant head-coaching position, though, and that's something that can still come through for him.

"Udinski has a new deal in place with Jacksonville that will bump his pay for next season, but the Jaguars are allowing him to continue pursuing the Bills’ HC job," ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Monday.

Udinski was up for the Cleveland Browns' head-coaching job, but he withdrew his name from that search on Monday morning.

Grant Udinski a potential option for Buffalo Bills

The Bills interviewed Udinski on championship Sunday, and it sounds as if he's reached the point of the process where now all he's waiting for is an offer.

It's worth noting that he'd have massive shoes to fill in Buffalo at just 30 years old and with no previous head-coaching experience. If he were to be the head coach in Buffalo, he'd be replacing Sean McDermott, who took the Bills to the playoffs in eight of his nine seasons as head coach and was fired because he couldn't get the team to the Super Bowl.

Udinski was a graduate assistant in 2019 under Matt Rhule at Baylor. He went to the Carolina Panthers with Rhule and was a coaching assistant in 2021 and 2022 before working as an assistant quarterbacks coach and assistant offensive coordinator under Kevin O'Connell with the Minnesota Vikings for three seasons.

Coen hired Udinski to be his (non-play-calling) offensive coordinator heading into 2025, and he's thought to be one of the biggest reasons for Jacksonville's turnaround.
